Prof Jitendra V Singh, a world-class management scholar and business educator, has become our new Dean of the School of Business and Management in September 2014. His extensive links with global academic institutions and public and private sector companies are certainly useful to boosting the School’s global presence.
Prof Singh moved to Hong Kong after a long career at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he assumed numerous significant roles since joining the School in 1987. At Wharton, he helped establish the Singapore Management University , the worldwide alliance between Wharton and INSEAD, and the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, India. From 2007 to 2009, he was Dean of the Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
His began his studies in natural and mathematical sciences and he received his B.Sc. (Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics) from Lucknow University, India. Subsequently, he received his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India, and gained his PhD from Stanford Business School.
His research and teaching interests focus on strategy and organization, with an emphasis on multinational corporations, emerging economies, organizational evolution, and entrepreneurship. He has co-authored four books and published near fifty papers in many of the leading management and social science journals.
Prof Singh has lectured to executive and academic audiences in North America, Europe, Asia and South America. He has also been active in advising firms and has served as a director or adviser to both startups and established firms in the private and public sectors including, among others, Infosys Technologies, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Eurindia, SPRING Singapore, and SAFTI Military Institute. |
